College of Nursing Science Sokoto State 2024 Admission

Sokoto State College of Nursing Science Sokoto hereby calls on the general public and suitably qualified applicants to apply for admission into the various programmes of the college for the 2024/2025 academic session. The Sokoto State College of Nursing is a public institution. The college is owned by the government of Sokoto State, Nigeria. Furthermore, the great citadel of learning is located at Wariri Abbas Road, Mabera Road Sokoto, Sokoto State, Nigeria.

Also, the college has the necessary facilities for the training of those who wishes to start a carrier in Nursing and midwifery. More so, all the programmes offered in Sokoto State College of Nursing Sciences has been accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). The programmes includes;

Basic Nursing Programme

The Basic Nursing Programme at Sokoto State College of Nursing Science Sokoto is a six (6) semester programme of three (3) years of study. The Basic Nursing programme is design to teach students on general nursing practices. Furthermore, at the end of the programme, students sit for their final qualifying examination from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). Those who pass the qualifying examination are awarded the Certificate as Registered Nurses (RN) in addition by the Council.

Basic Midwifery Programme

Just as the Basic Nursing programme at Sokoto State College of Nursing Science, the Basic Midwifery Programme is also a six (6) semester programme. It also has three academic sessions with two (2) semesters in each. Furthermore, the programme is designed to train students on basic midwifery programme. Lastly, at the end of the three years midwifery programme at Sokoto State College of Nursing Science students normally sit for their final qualifying examination supervised by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). Those who pass the final qualifying examination are awarded a certificate in Midwifery as Registered Midwifes (RM) in addition by the council.

Refresher Programme

The Refresher Programme at Sokoto State College of Nursing Science Sokoto is a one (1) year programme. t is designed and instituted by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) for those who could not pass the qualifying professional nursing examination after three attempt in general nursing.

Requirements for Admission into Sokoto State College of Nursing Science Sokoto

  • First, applicants must have at five credit pass in their O-level relevant subjects at a maximum of two sittings. More so, the relevant subjects must include: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English Language.
  • Also, applicants must be at least 17 years of age before applying.
  • Furthermore, applicants must know that the Sokoto State College of Nursing Science will conduct entrance examination for all candidates. More so, the examination will cover the following subjects; English Language, Mathematics, Physic, Biology, Chemistry, Current Affairs, and General Knowledge. Thus, candidates with the highest scores are selected for the next stage of the admission proceedings.
  • More so, applicants for Refresher Programmes must have their Index Number, Academic Transcript and Covering letter from previous nursing school attended.
  • Lastly, candidates for Refresher Programme must have their previous examinations numbers for the three attempts (this must include months, and year of attempts in addition)
