The Katsina State College of Nursing Sciences hereby notify the general public that the sales of application forms for the 2024 admission is ongoing. The application form is for admission of students into the various programmes of the college of nursing for the 2024 / 2025 academic session. Furthermore, the college of nursing Sciences Katsina has the core mission to produce professional Nurses and Midwifes.  That are equip with critical, analytical and also evidence-base practical skills which will provide quality healthcare services from individuals, families and also communities within and outside the four walls of hospitals.

More so, the Katsina State college of Nursing have all the necessary accreditation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and Nurses and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). There are requirements which interested applicant must have before applying. What are the Programmes Offered in the Katsina State College of Nursing Sciences?

The following are the programmes offered in Katsina State College of Nursing;

National Diploma (ND) / Higher National Diploma Nursing

The National Diploma (ND) / Higher National Diploma Nursing is a four (4) years of 8 Semester nursing programme. The graduates of this programmes undergo a one (1) year Clinical Experience which is also called Attachment. At the end of the programme, Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates go for the one year compulsory National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) in addition.

Basic Nursing Programme

The Basic Nursing Programme at the Katsina State College of Nursing last for the period of three years. This three years programme comprises of six (6) semester with two semester each academic session. More so, at the end of the programme, graduates get register as Registered Nurse by the Nurse and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).

Basic Midwifery Programme

The Basic Midwifery Programme at the Katsina State College of Nursing is also a three (3) years programme. Which also comprises of Six (6) semesters with two (2) semester each academic session. Lastly, on completions of the programmes, graduates get registered and inducted as the Registered Midwifes (RM) by the Nurses and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).

Community Midwifery Programme

The Community Midwifery Programme at the Katsina State College of Nursing is a two (2) years programme. More so, this two years programme compromises of two semester for each academic session. Lastly, on completions of the programmes, graduates get inducted and registered as Registered community Midwife by the Nurse and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).

Community Nursing Programme

The Community Nursing Programme at the Katsina State College of Nursing is also a two years programmes. More, the two years is further split into two semester each for each academic session. Lastly, graduates on completion of the programme get register into the Nurses and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) as community Nurses.

Post Basic Nursing Programme

The Post Basic Nursing Programme is an advanced nursing programme at the Katsina State College of Nursing . More so, the programme is a two years programme of four semester. It is also a Higher National Diploma (HND) Nursing Tentative programme.

Post basic Midwifery Programme

Also, the Post Basic Midwifery Programme is in the same category with Post Basic Nursing programme. The only difference is the duration of programme, while the Post Basic Nursing is two years, the Post Basic Midwifery is only a one year programme. More so, the one year is further split into two semesters. Lastly, it is also an advanced level programme.

Interested applicants must note that all the programmes above are domiciled in the Kasimu Kofar Bai school of Nursing Sciences and Nana Babajo School of Nursing Sciences Malumfashi.

Requirements for Admission into the Katsina State College of Nursing Sciences

  • Applicants for National Diploma Nursing must possess at least five credit passes in their O-level result(s) relevant subjects. These subjects must include Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry at not more than two sittings. Furthermore, applicants must have register for the just concluded JAMB and chose the College of Nursing Sciences Katsina as first choice institution. Those who did not chose must carry out a change of institution on JAMB portal. More so, applicants for ND programme must upload the O-level result(s) on JAMB CAPS. Also, applicants must have sat for the UTME in the following subjects; Use of English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. They must also score the College cut off mark and above in addition.   • Applicants for Higher National Diploma Nursing in addition to their O-level must have a National Diploma (ND) in General Nursing with a minimum CGPA of 2.0 (pass). The college of Nursing Sciences Katsina may conduct a qualified examination for applicants in addition.
  • Applicants for Basic Nursing must possess minimum of least five credit passes in their O-level result(s) relevant subjects. These subjects must include Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry at a maximum of two sittings.
Other Requirements Includes;
  • Applicants for Community Midwifery must have at least four (4) credit passes in their O-level subjects. These subjects must include English Language, Biology and any other two of the following; mathematics, Chemistry or physics in WAEC and NECO at a maximum of two sittings. Lastly, applicants with NABTEB all four credit pass must be at one sitting.
  • Applicants for Community Nursing must possess a minimum of four (4) credit passes in their O-level subjects. These subjects must include English Language, Biology and any other two of the following; mathematics, Chemistry or physics in WAEC and NECO at a maximum of two sittings. Lastly, applicants with NABTEB all four credit pass must be at one sitting in addition.
  • Applicants for Post Basic Nursing / Midwifery in addition for five credit passes in O-level relevant subjects at maximum of two sittings must present evidence of registration with Council and possess 2 years of post-graduation experience. Applicants must show their current practicing License.

How to Apply for Post UTME for Admission into National Diploma (ND) Nursing in College of Nursing Sciences Katsina

Applicant must score from 160 and above in their UTME. Screening application fee is a non-refundable fee of N2500 only. Then proceed to follow the steps for your application.

  • Click on the Begin here button
  • Then enter your UTME registration number and then click on the Verify Now button
  • Make payment of the screening application fee online using your debit card.
  • Fill your details carefully, and then preview for errors.
  • Submit your application.
  • Print out the registration slip. This will show the date and venue of your screening interview.
