The following programmes are offered in Ummul-Khair college of School of nursing and Midwifery Gasau, Zamfara;

General Nursing Programme

Ummul-Khair college of Nursing Sciences Gasau offers General Nursing Programme. This is a three years programme of six semesters. Furthermore, the programme groom the students in all the basic nursing practices. More so, the basic nursing programme aims at promoting health, preventing illness, and also provision of healthcare services to the people at all levels of life and communities.

More so, the general nursing programme in Ummul-Khair college of Nursing Sciences Gasau has been given the necessary approval by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). Therefore, the school of nursing has the full status to offer the programme. Lastly, the graduates of general nursing programmes gets inducted as Registered Nurses (RN) by NMCN after their final examination supervised by the body.

Basic Midwifery Programme

The Ummul-Khair college of Nursing Sciences Gasau also offers the Basic Midwifery Programme. The Basic Midwifery programme is also a three years and six semesters programme. Furthermore, the basic midwifery programmes train students for the fundamental principles and practices of midwifery care. These care are provided to women during pregnancy, childbirth and also at postpartum period.

More so, the basic midwifery programme is also a full time programme which has been granted full accreditation by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). Thus, the Ummul-Khair school of midwifery Gasau has the full right to run the programme. Finally, the graduates of general midwifery programmes get certified as Registered Midwifes (RM) by NMCN after their final examination supervised by the NMCN.

Requirements for Admission

Interested applicants for admission into Ummul-Khair School of Nursing and Midwifery Gasau, Zamfara State must possess the following requirements;

  • First, all candidates must have a minimum of five credit passes in their O-level relevant subjects which must include English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology at not more than two sittings.
  • More so, applicants must be at least 17 years of age.
  • Furthermore, candidate with NABTEB result must know that all their five credit passes must be obtained at one sitting.
  • Lastly, there will be entrance examination to be conducted by Ummul-Khair college of Nursing Sciences Zamfara. These examination will cover the following subjects: Biology, Physics, Current Affairs, English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, and General Knowledge. Candidates with the highest scores will be selected for the next stage of the screening process for admission.
