The NDDC Local Scholarship Programme is put in place for the continued effort to enhance Human Resource Development in the Niger Delta region, through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). The Commission is once again embarking on its Local Postgraduate Scholarship Programme for the year 2025/2026. More so, this scheme is designed to empower young people from the Niger Delta region with relevant academic training and skills. Thus, this will thereby equip them for effective participation in the Federal Government’s Local Content Programme in general apart from self-development. The scholarship programme is aims to foster global competitiveness by supporting academic excellence and professional development in key disciplines and educational field across the Niger Delta.

Academic Areas For NDDC Local Scholarship Programme

The scheme is open to suitably qualified applicants from various academic fields. Thus, applicants must have relevant Bachelor’s  Degree from recognized Universities in anyone of the following professional or academics disciplines:

  • Agricultural Science
  • Architecture
  • Engineering
  • Environmental Sciences
  • Geosciences
  • Humanities
  • Information Technology
  • Law
  • Management & Social Sciences
  • Medical Sciences

 

Important Requirements for NDDC Scholarship Programme

Most interested applicants do ask questions such as; What are the requirements for application for the 2025/2026 Niger Delta Development Commission (NNDC) local scholarship Programme. For interested applicant to be eligible for the scholarship programme, they must fulfil the followings:

  1. Applicant must be indigenes of the Niger Delta Region;
  2. They must not be older than forty (40) years of age and
  3. Applicant must should possess either a First Class or Second Class Upper or Second Class Lower Bachelor’s Degree.
  4. Applicants with a Higher National Diploma (HND) can apply. Those with this academic qualification must have a minimum of Upper Credit and Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in addition.

The method of application for NDDC Local Scholarship Programme is online. Therefore, prospective and qualified candidates should follow the link below to apply:

  • Use an active email address and phone number to create an account
  • Make sure your fill the application form carefully and completely.
  • Print out the application acknowledgement slip after registration for references at the point of screening.

Selection Process For 2025/2026 Niger Delta Development Commission (NNDC) scholarship Local Programme

  • Initial Online Application:  Interested candidates must complete and submit an online application via the NDDC Scholarship Programme / the Commission’s official Website-
  • Preliminary Shortlisting of Candidates: Candidates will be shortlisted base on the following criteria:
  1.   WASSCE/NECO results
  2.  Undergraduate degree classification (First Class, Second Class Upper/Lower), PGD etc.
  3.  Valid Local Government Identification.
  • Computer-Based Test (CBT): Here, shortlisted candidates will undergo a computer-based test conducted by NDDC consultant at the designated centres in Akwa Ibom, Delta and Rivers States. Furthermore, candidates must select their preferred CBT zone on the scholarship registration portal.
  • Minimum CBT Test Score: For candidates to get their names shortlisted, they must obtain a minimum score of 70% during the CBT to qualify for the next stage of the NDDC local scholarship programme.
  • Further Shortlisting: Candidates who meet the minimum test score will be further shortlisted in addition.
  • Final Verification: Furthermore, the final verification of candidates NDDC scholarship programme involves verification through the respective Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Community Development Committees (CDCs).

APPLICATION CLOSING DATE FOR NDDC Local SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

The deadline for submission of application for NDDC scholarship programme is 20 July, 2025. Thus, interested and qualified applicant must make sure they submit their online application form on or before the closing date. However, those who do not submit their online form on or before the closing date will be automatically disqualified from the programme. MODE OF APPLICATION NDDC 2025 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

Interested qualified applicants are required to submit their applications online via the Commission’s NDDC Local Scholarship Programme website: www.nddc.gov.ng. The documents below must be scanned and attached to the application in addition:

  1. Recent colour passport photograph of not older than 6 month
  2. Local Government Letter of Identification.
  3. Postgraduate admission letter from any recognized Nigerian university of your choice.
  4. Relevant first degree certificate from an NUC recognized universities.
  5. Certificate of Discharge/Exemption National Youth Service Corp (NYSC).

Take Note: Prospective candidates for NDDC Local Scholarship Programme should know that upon successful completion of their online application form, a registration number will be automatically assigned to them. Thus, applicants are then advice to print out a hard copy of the online-generated acknowledgment slip for future reference. The slip should be printed in colour.

Furthermore, also know that all shortlisted candidates will be announced and names posted on the NDDC official website: www.nddc.gov.ng/shortlisted/candidates. Thus, these shortlisted candidates will subsequently be invited to take part in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) at designated centres.

PLEASE NOTE:

The Commission (NDDC) will not engage in any form of Communication with the following persons:

  1. Candidates who are not shortlisted for the Computer Based Test (CBT).
  2. Those who are not invited for oral interview, or
  3. Candidates who are not successful at the oral interview stage.

Preference will be given to the following candidates:

  • who held from Oil Producing Host/Communities
  • Local Government Areas of Oil Producing communities

This will be considered as long as candidates meet the approved cut of mark for NDDC Local Scholarship Programme 2025/2026. The Commission will ensure a fair spread of courses amongst beneficiaries within cache State in addition.

Deferment, Change of Institution and Course are not permitted NDDC scholarship programme

The Niger Delta Development Commission reserves the sole and absolute discretion to select beneficiaries in line with the above stated criteria and its internal consideration in addition. Thus, the decision of the Niger Delta Development Commission in this regard is final.
