The College of Nursing Sciences, Federal Medical Centre Nguru is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for admission into the various programmes of the college. Admission is open to both qualified males and females applicants for all the programmes of the school. More so, this Federal Medical Centre is located in Nguru, Yobe State, Nigeria. The location of the college is at a very conducive environment for academic and medical activities. Furthermore, there are various requirements which applicants must have before applying for anyone of the programmes at the school. Thus, read below for the requirements and the method of application for admission into the College of Nursing, Federal Medical Centre Nguru, Yobe State.

What are the Programmes offered in College of Nursing Sciences, Federal Medical Centre Nguru, Yobe State?

The following programmes are offered in the college;

  • National Diploma (ND) Nursing Programme

National Diploma (ND) / Higher National Diploma (HND) Nursing Programme is a four years non-terminal programme. Furthermore, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has been approved by the National Diploma (ND) / Higher National Diploma (HND) Nursing Programme for the college of Nursing Nguru. Graduates of the National Diploma (ND) / Higher National Diploma (HND) Nursing Programme go for the one year compulsory internship programme which they afterwards go for another one year compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). More so, they also get certificate as certified Registered Nurses (RN) or Registered Midwifes (RM) respectively by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) in addition.

Lastly, candidates for the National Diploma (ND) Nursing Programme in College of Nursing Sciences, Federal Medical Centre Nguru must have participated in the just concluded JAMB.

  • Basic Nursing Programme – School of Nursing
  • Basic Midwifery Programme – School of Midwifery

The above programmes have been accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).  They are three years programmes of six semesters each. Furthermore, the graduates of the Basic Nursing and Midwifery programmes get certified as Registered Nurses (RN) or Registered Midwifes (RM) respectively by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). Lastly, they can proceed to Post Basic Nursing or Post Basic Midwifery respectively.

Requirements for Admission into College of Nursing Sciences, Federal Medical Centre Nguru, Yobe State

The following are the requirements for admission into school of nursing and midwifery, College of Nursing Sciences, Federal Medical Centre Nguru Yobe State.

  • First, all candidates for admission into anyone of the above programmes in College of Nursing Sciences, Federal Medical Centre Nguru must have at least five (5) Credit passes in O-level (WAEC, NECO or NABTEB) in the following subjects; English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.
  • Furthermore, candidates for National Diploma (ND) / Higher National Diploma (HND) Nursing Programme must carry out a change of institution on JAMB portal. Then select College of Nursing Sciences, Federal Medical Centre Nguru Yobe State as their first choice institution. Also, they must upload their O-level result(s) on JAMB CAPS in addition.
  • Candidates for National Diploma (ND) / Higher National Diploma (HND) Nursing Programme must have score 140 and above in UTME in the following UTME subjects; Use of English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
  • Candidates for any one of the programmes must be 16 years of age.
  • O-level result(s) must be at a maximum of two sittings. Those using NABTEB must know that they must have their five credits passes at one sitting.
  • Lastly, candidates must take note that they will take entrance examination to be conducted by the College of Nursing Sciences, Federal Medical Centre Nguru for the selection of the best applicants for admission. Thus, the examination will cover the following subjects; English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Current Affairs and General Studies. Note that candidates with the highest score will be selected for the next step of the admission process.

  How to Apply

The method of application use for Admission into College of Nursing Sciences, Federal Medical Centre Nguru is online. Thus, prospective candidates should follow the step below carefully for their application;

  • Then click on the New Application button for any programme of your choice (Post UTME, Midwifery, and Nursing). Note that you must chose a programme of your choice here.
  • Fill the form carefully. Then proceed to make payment online using your debit card via Quickteller or Remita Platforms. Make sure your details are correct. Thus, correction of data after payments attract a fee of N1000.
  • Then Submit your application

Lastly, print out the application slip and payment receipt. The application slip will save at the entrance for the entrance examination. Also, applicants must know that the entrance examination will be Computer Based Test (CBT).
