The Management of Sacred Heart College of Nursing Sciences Lantaro, Ogun State hereby inform the general public and interested candidates that application has commence for admission into the 2024/2025 academic session. Since the Status of the Nursing training institution has been upgraded from School of nursing to college of nursing there are some changes in admission requirements and addition of some programmes to the existing ones. The Sacred Heart College of Nursing Sciences Lantaro, Ogun State is owned and managed by the Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta, Ogun State. Therefore, read below for the new structure, requirements and how to apply for admission into the college;
Programmes offered In Sacred Heart College of Nursing Ogun State
National Diploma (ND) / Higher National Diploma (HND) Nursing Programme
This is a for years non-terminal programme which is divided into eight semesters and two semesters each academic session. The National Diploma (ND) / Higher National Diploma (HND) Nursing Programme was introduce into the Sacred Heart College of Nursing Sciences Lantaro, Ogun State when the status of the school was changed form a school of nursing to college of nursing. When students complete this four years nursing programme, they proceed to the compulsory one year National Youths Service Corps (NYSC). Furthermore, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has given the necessary accreditation for the programme commence. Lastly, graduate also get registered as Registered Nurses (RN) when they complete the programme and pass the final examination.
General Nursing Programme
The General Nursing Programme is a three years programme of six semesters of which is further split into two semesters in each academic session in Sacred Heart College of Nursing Sciences Lantaro, Ogun State. Also, the programme is a further continuation of the school of nursing programme. More so, the General Nursing programme has been fully accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery council of Nigeria (NMCN). Lastly, graduate of the three years nursing programme get registered as Registered Nurses (RN) by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) at the end of the programme.
Midwifery Programme
The General Nursing Programme is also a three years programme of six semesters of which is further split into two semesters in each academic session as the General Nursing programme in Sacred Heart College of Nursing Sciences Lantaro, Ogun State. More so, the Midwifery programme is also a further continuation of the school of nursing programme. More so, the Midwifery programme has been fully accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery council of Nigeria (NMCN). Finally, graduates of the three years nursing programme get registered as Registered Midwifes (RM) by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) at the end of the programme.
Public Health Nursing Programme
The Public Health Programme is also a three years programme of six semesters and two semesters each academic session. Here, students at Sacred Hearth College of Nursing Lantaro Ogun State are trained to become public health nurses who are ready to perform during an epidemic. They are fully equip with both theoretical and practical clinical knowledge to them to always be ready to perform during an epidemic.
Requirements for Admission
The following are the requirements for admission into Sacred Hearth College of Nursing Lantaro Ogun State;
- First, applicant for anyone one of the programmes above must have at minimum of five credit pass in their O-level relevant subjects which must include; Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and English Language at a maximum of two sittings
- More so, applicants for National Diploma (ND) / Higher National Diploma (HND) Nursing Programme must have registered for the just concluded JAMB and chose Sacred Hearth College of Nursing Lantaro Ogun State as their most preferred institution. Furthermore, those who did not chose the school as their most preferred institution must carry out a change of institution on JAMB portal
- Also, National Diploma (ND) / Higher National Diploma (HND) Nursing Programme must upload their O-level result on JAMB CAPS.
- National Diploma (ND) / Higher National Diploma (HND) Nursing Programme must have sat for the just conclude UTME and score 180 and above which is the official cut off mark of Sacred Hearth College of Nursing Lantaro Ogun State; More so, the UTME subjects combination must include; Use of English, Chemistry, Physics and Chemistry.
- Screening application fee is a non-refundable fee of twenty thousand Naira (N20000) only
- Lastly, applicants for any of the programmes above must be 17 years of age and above. Underage applicants will not be welcome in addition.
