The Ogun State College of Nursing Sciences is owned by the Ogun State Government with three campuses located in; Abeokuta, Ijebu-Ode and Ilaro. The following programmes are offered in Ogun State College of Nursing Sciences

National Diploma (ND) / Higher National Diploma (HND) Nursing

The National Diploma (ND) / Higher National Diploma (HND) Nursing is the movement of nursing education into College of Nursing with National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) which is to be in line with National Policy on Education and also the contemporary system of education in Nigeria. The programme is designed to allow seamless academic progression. It prepares competent, skilled, and polyvalent nurses and midwifes.

The National Diploma (ND) / Higher National Diploma (HND) Nursing is a four (4) years continuous programme. It is divided into 2 years ND and 2 years HND. The first two years which is ND is a non-terminal programme. Graduates of National Diploma (ND) with a CGPA of 2.5 (Lower Credit) will proceed for HND Nursing.

Basic Nursing Programme

The Basic Nursing Programme in Ogun State College of Nursing is a 3 years programme. It is split into 6 semesters with 2 semesters each academic session. The Basic Nursing programme in Ogun State College of Nursing has been approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). This programme is run by the three campus of Ogun State College of Nursing namely; College of Nursing Science Abeokuta, Ijebu Ode and Ilaro. The Basic Nursing Programme is designed to train students on practical skills and also give them clinical experience for them to become Registered Nurses (RN).

  Basic Midwifery Programme

The Basic Midwifery Programme in Ogun State College of Nursing is a 3 years programme just as the Basic Nursing Programme. It is split into 6 semesters with 2 semesters each academic session. The Basic Nursing programme in Ogun State College of Nursing has been approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). This programme is run by the three campus of Ogun State College of Nursing namely; College of Nursing Science Abeokuta, Ijebu Ode and Ilaro.

Community Midwifery Programme

The Community Midwifery Programme in in Ogun State College of Nursing Sciences is a 2 years programme of 4 semesters which are split into 2 semesters each academic session. More so, the Community Midwifery Programme has been approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). Furthermore, the programme is designed to for the training of students on the practical aspect of community midwifery skills. This gives the students the knowledge to become Licensed Community Midwife (LCM).

Post Basic Nursing Programme

The Post Basic Nursing Programme in Ogun State College of Nursing is an 18 months programme which is further split into 3 semesters. The programme have been approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). Furthermore, the programme is being run by the three campuses of in Ogun State College of Nursing namely; College of Nursing Sciences (Abeokuta, Ijebu Ode and Ilaro). The programmes is ideal for already Registered Midwifes who are looking forward to pursue a career in Nursing. More so, the Post Basic Nursing Programme in Ogun State College of Nursing is designed to train students in practical nursing skills and knowledge which will equip them to gain clinical experience they need to become Registered Nurses (RN).

Post Basic Midwifery Programme

The Post Basic Midwifery Programme in Ogun State College of Nursing just as the Post Basic Nursing Programme is an 18 months programme which is also split into 3 semesters. The programme have also been accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). Furthermore, the programmes is ideal for already Registered Nurses who are looking forward to pursue a career in Midwifery. More so, the Post Basic Midwifery Programme in Ogun State College of Nursing is designed to train students in practical Midwifery skills and knowledge which will equip them to gain clinical experience they need to become Registered Midwifes (RM).

Refresher Basic Nursing Programme

The Refresher Basic Nursing Programme also approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). It is designed for the training of student who have undergone the basic nursing training but failed the Final Qualifying Council (NMCN) Examination after three attempts. It is a one year programme of two semesters which are run by the three campuses of Ogun State College of Nursing namely; School of Nursing (Abeokuta, Ilara and Ijebu Ode). Furthermore, here students are trained on practical nursing skills and will acquire the basic knowledge and practical clinical experience which will enabled them to become Registered Nurse (RN).

What are the Requirements for Admission into the Ogun. State College of Nursing?

Interested candidates must meet the following requirements before they can move forward to apply for admission in Ogun State College of Nursing Nigeria;

  • First, all candidates for National Diploma (ND)/ Higher National Diploma (HND) Nursing in Ogun State College of Nursing Sciences must have registered for the just concluded JAMB and choses Ogun State College of Nursing their most preferred institution. Those who did not make Ogun State College of Nursing their most preferred institution must carry out a change of institution on JAMB portal before or immediately after applying for the Post UTME.
  • Furthermore, all prospective candidates for any one of the programmes offered in Ogun State College of Nursing Sciences must have at least five (5) credits pass in O-level result(s) (NECO, WAEC, NABTEB or GCE) relevant subjects at not more than two sittings. More so, the subjects must include; English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Biology.

Other Requirements Includes

  • Furthermore, National Diploma (ND) / Higher National Diploma (HND) Nursing applicants seeking for admission into Ogun State College of Nursing Sciences must have sat the Computer Based Test (CBT) UTME and score a minimum 180 and above. More so, the recommended UTME subjects combination must include the following subjects; Use of English, Biology, Physics and Chemistry. Any other subjects outside the above mentioned subjects will not be accepted no matter the applicants’ score in addition.
  • Only applicants who meet the Ogun State College of Nursing minimum UTME cut off mark and above will be selected for entrance examination/screening/interview and eventually given admission.
  • Applicants for National Diploma (ND) / Higher National Diploma (HND) Nursing must upload their O-level result(s) or certificate (NECO, WAEC, NABTEB or GCE)  on JAMB CAPS in addition.
  • Lastly, applicants for any of the programmes in Ogun State of Nursing Sciences must be at least 17 years of age. Underage candidates will not be attained to during screening.
