The following are the basic requirements for Admission into Merit College of Nursing

  • Candidates must have a minimum of five (5) credits in their O-level (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB) result(s) relevant subjects which must include English Language, Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at not more than two sittings. WAEC and NECO results can combined. Furthermore, NABTEB result cannot be combined, thus all five credits passes from NABTEB must be obtained from one sitting.
  • Applicants must choose Merit College of Nursing Science Umuawa Orlu as their First-Choice institution in the just concluded 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and must score a considerable UTME score.
  • Those applicants who did choose MCNS as their first choice institution but have the interest to study in MCNS and score a minimum of 150 can also apply on the condition that they must have a change of institution on JAMB portal.
  • Applicants must pay a non-refundable application of Twenty-five thousand Naira (N25000) only.
  • All the programmes of the school are taught in English Language, therefore applicants must speak English fluently.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older. Therefore, all applicants must present either a state issued Identification card / drivers license or international passport.
  • Candidates with issue of felony, and certain misdemeanour like drug, violence, and theft are not allowed to apply. Thus, pre-employment background check and also drug screening will be required from applicants.
