The government of Oyo state has announced for the recruitment of teachers into her post primary school system as their efforts to improve the Post-primary education sector. The announcement was made by the chairperson, Oyo state Post-Primary Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Akinade Alamu on Friday 28 June, 2024. DIFFERENT CATEGORIES ON HOW TO APPLY FOR OYO STATE TEACHERS RECRUITMENT
There are two categories to apply for. These include:
- Teaching Staff: About 7,500 staff will be recruited for this category. This category is reserved for those who have the basic training and are certified as qualified teachers by the relevant professional bodies and authorities.
- Non-Teaching Staff: This category is reserved for non-teachers. Those recruited for this category will be taking charge of the doing other jobs in schools compound apart from teaching. About 3,000 slot is reserved for those to be employed in this category.
The chairperson, Oyo state Post-Primary Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Akinade Alamu warned applicants against applying for both categories simultaneously. Thus, each applicants is entitled to either apply for the teaching or non-teaching category. Applying for both categories simultaneously will lead to automatic disqualification.

CONDITIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT
According to the chairperson, Oyo state Post-Primary Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Akinade Alamu the recruitment of the new teachers will be based on merit. Therefore, all applicants are advice to be qualified before proceeding to apply. He went further to say that merit-based employment is the key to qualitative education in any society. Thus, there is the need to adhere strictly to the stated guidelines on the online application portal.
REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT
Applicants must have the following:
- First, applicants must have a National Identification Number (NIN). The NIN must have been verified for easy confirmation.
- Secondly, applicants must have a functional and active email address (Gmail).
- Also, applicants must have a valid phone numbers.
- Furthermore, applicants must have necessary educational qualification. At least, primary, SSCE and OND for the non-teaching staff and Nigerian Certificate for Education (NCE), HND, Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in relevant academic field for the teaching staff.
- Lastly, applicants for the teaching staff should have the necessary professional qualification like Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) in addition.
STEPS TO GUIDE THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS
Every applicant must do the following:
- Online Application: Every applicants must first of all apply or register for the exercise online.
- CBT Examination: Applicants must participate in the Computer Based Test examination. This is to select those on merits for the recruitment.
- Oral Interview: Lastly, those shortlisted after the CBT examination will be contacted to proceed for oral interview with the senior staff of the Oyo state educational board. Those successful in this stage will be contacted for documentation.

- Lastly, print out the ACKNOWLEDGEMENT SLIP which will contain your examination / ID number. You must go along with the slip to the CBT venue.
CONCLUSION
This recruitment exercise will last for only two weeks from the date of announcement or opening. Therefore, applicants are to make use of the time given for their online application. The process will be supervised by an inter-ministerial committee which will ensure a seamless recruitment exercise. Lastly, this recruitment exercise is aim at fortifying the teaching and non-teaching sector of the state’s secondary education according to the Permanent Secretary, TESCOM, Haroon Lawal.
